Balance
Why should I improve balance?
According to a study conducted by Hatem et al. (2016), balance is an important risk factor for preventing falls after stroke. While the vast majority of stroke survivors regain independent balance ability, asymmetry in weight bearing and postural sway remains, together with declined capacity to voluntarily shift body weight or to withstand external disturbances. Having said that, it makes balance improvement one of several key goals of stroke rehabilitation.
